Incorporated in October 2003, following a management buy out, of the chilled & frozen division of Scott & Co Ltd (Rogers group), Fine Foods Marketing was born. At that time, that division was making huge recurrent losses (Rs 13m during last year of operation only) since its inception in 1992. In spite of multiple management changes, the bottom line did not improve, not even to sustainability and so, exit scenario was finally chosen by the then- board of directors, in 2003.

LEARNING TO WALK
Believing in the potential of the product range, which was initially viewed as pure commodity, Mario Gébért set out to buy out the entity. No one at that time (especially not the banks) would have bet a single cent on the success of that venture, given its past track record, the prevailing competitive rivalry within the industry, the high bargaining power of both suppliers & customers & the more than limited scope to turn around the entity. Passion, vision, leadership & sheer hard work, applied to the new appropriate business model, driven by an entrepreneur’s will to win, proved the contrary. Fine Food Marketing Ltd became a profitable entity after only the first year of operation.
Today, determination, passion, learning-while-doing, perseverance & positive mental attitude have become part of the company culture. Our achievement has been recognised both locally & internationally by two prestigious nominations namely:
- The Tecoma Award (by Eco Austral) recognising the Best Entrepreneur of the Year 2011.
- The Emerging World Entrepreneur in 2011, which is the “most prestigious” business Award in the World, led by Ernst & Young international recognising “exceptional entrepreneurs “in the world.
